Woman Tries Escape Through Ceiling Vent At Ohio Jail

Bowling Green, OH – A 40-year-old woman tried to escape the Northwest Community Correction Center on February 24, investigators said.

Authorities were tipped off by a fellow resident that Trisha Lane had climbed up an air vent in the bathroom around 8:45 p.m.

A security officer checked the immediate area and then the roof, spotting Lane in a mechanical area of the vent. She was taken into custody just before 9:30 p.m.

Officials confirmed that Lane never made it off jail premises during the attempt.

Lane told a Bowling Green police officer she had met up with a boyfriend while on furlough and “somehow ended up pissing dirty,” likely referring to a failed urine test.

Facility staff explained that her probation was being revoked, and she would serve the rest of her drug possession sentence at the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio in Stryker. She was then taken to the Wood County Jail.

Lane appeared in court Wednesday, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 2.
