Woman Reported Swept Away As Firefighters Search Flooded Albuquerque Arroyo

Albuquerque, New Mexico – Firefighters searched a flooded channel Tuesday evening after a woman was reported swept away in the Embudo Arroyo near Hendola NE.

Video filmed by Albuquerque Fire Rescue shows water rushing through Albuquerque’s concrete flood channels at dusk and after dark, with crews working along the sloped banks and near the flowing water.

The call came at 6:39 p.m. as a flood-channel response. Crews staged along the arroyo system and found moderate flow but made no contact with anyone matching the description of the missing woman.

Ladder 13 later made contact with a man who said he had fallen into the channel and managed to get out near Morningside NE. Rescue 13 evaluated him, and Albuquerque Ambulance took him to the hospital.

After about 30 minutes with no further contact, Albuquerque Fire Rescue ended the search.
