Parkland, Washington – On the night of March 27, 2026, deputies responded after an aircraft reported being targeted by a green laser over the Parkland area. The aircraft observer with the Washington State Patrol spotted the suspect in a backyard and relayed a detailed description to deputies on the ground.

As deputies approached, the suspect continued shining the laser at the aircraft. She fled into a home but eventually emerged and was taken into custody without further incident.

During the standoff, the 31-year-old woman repeatedly tried to avoid arrest by claiming medical issues and other excuses. Fire personnel confirmed she had no medical problems. She made a final dramatic attempt to evade arrest by collapsing.

After being transported to a hospital and cleared, the suspect was booked into Pierce County Jail. She faces charges of felony unlawful discharge of a laser in the 1st degree and obstructing a law enforcement officer.
