Wild Bobcat Comes Face-To-Face With Toddler At California Home

San Bernardino, California – A toddler came face-to-face with a wild bobcat at a family home in Upper Waterman Canyon on Wednesday, according to video filmed by the child’s mother, Kaylee Brandenberger.

The encounter happened in the small neighborhood located off Highway 18 in San Bernardino.

The footage shows the bobcat standing just outside a sliding glass door while the toddler watches from inside the home. Separated by the glass, the animal appears calm and almost cat-like despite being a dangerous wild predator.

Brandenberger said, “I was walking to the kitchen and saw its little head at the end of my deck just staring at us.”

She added that the bobcat stayed nearby for “another 45 seconds or so” after the interaction before it “casually trotted away.”

“I’ve never seen one that calm and unbothered lol. I assume it’s a young one,” she said.

The video captures the unusual moment as the bobcat remains close to the child during the encounter.

Bobcats are generally known for avoiding humans, but this animal appeared unusually comfortable approaching the home and staying near the door.
