Sanford, Florida – A man wanted on a warrant dived headfirst through a window in a bid to escape police officers in Sanford, only to crash onto the porch and end up in hospital.

Footage released by the Sanford Police Department from body cameras shows officers outside the house before the man launches himself through the glass and lands in a heap on the porch boards, as officers rush in and pin him down. “Stop, stop,” one officer shouts.

Officers had been called to the home near Old Lake Mary Boulevard and West 25th Street at about 5:45 p.m. on September 13 over a person with an active warrant who was refusing to leave the property, police said. They identified him as Marquis Thurton, who they said “appeared to believe he could fly away from our officers.”

Thurton was taken to hospital for treatment and then arrested on charges of resisting an officer with violence and battery on a law enforcement officer, as well as the warrant. Police released the video on October 21.
