Waco, United States – A kangaroo escaped from the Waco Wildlife Rescue in Texas, marking the second marsupial breakout from the facility in less than a year.

The Waco Police Department reported that sightings of a kangaroo on the loose were received in the La Salle Avenue area on Monday morning.

Officers later located and captured the animal on Robinson Drive after a brief pursuit.

The incident follows a previous escape involving two kangaroos from the same rescue facility on September 2, 2025. Both were returned safely later that evening.

It has not been confirmed whether the kangaroo involved in Monday’s incident was one of the animals that escaped in September.

Authorities commented on the unusual situation, saying: “Well… the first time this happened we said it wasn’t our typical patrol day, but now it’s just become ‘roo-tine.’”
