Parque Natural Tajo Internacional, Alcántara, Cáceres, Spain – A large vulture that fell into a natural swimming pool in a quarry area was rescued after being unable to escape the water.

Visitors at the site were surprised when the bird ended up in the pool and required immediate assistance to get out.

Officers from the Nature Protection Service stepped in to recover the vulture and carefully handled it to prevent any injuries during the rescue.

Working on rocky ground above the water, the officers secured the bird and prepared it for transport away from the pool area.

A local environmental agent also assisted in the operation, helping ensure the vulture could be moved safely and without harm.

The bird was then transported and released back into a higher area of the natural park, where it was returned to its habitat.

The operation ended successfully with the vulture regaining flight and returning to the wild.

Authorities highlighted the importance of coordinated wildlife response in protected natural areas, where incidents like this require careful handling to avoid injury to animals.

The intervention turned what could have been a dangerous situation for the bird into a safe return to its natural environment.
