Washburn, Illinois – Video filmed by X user Jake not from State Farm captures a large, violently rotating tornado on the ground across open farmland in Marshall County on the evening of June 11, 2026.

The footage, taken from a moving vehicle on a rural road, shows a wide column of cloud and debris stretching from the base of a massive, dark supercell down toward green fields. Farm buildings and scattered trees appear on the horizon as rain shafts and swirling storm clouds fill the frame. The driver moves closer to the tornado after receiving weather alerts.

The video documents a confirmed large and extremely dangerous tornado that triggered a rare Tornado Emergency for the area. The National Weather Service reported the tornado over or near Washburn, moving northeast at around 40 mph, as part of a broader severe weather outbreak across central and northern Illinois.

Multiple strong tornadoes touched down that evening, with significant damage reported in nearby communities including Streator. The outbreak affected several areas across the region as storms intensified through the night.

Damage surveys indicated at least EF2 intensity in some areas around Washburn, along with reports of structural damage, power outages, and emergency response activity across affected communities. No fatalities were immediately linked to this specific tornado, though widespread disruption was reported.
