Chulilla, Spain – A coordinated mountain rescue operation was carried out after a woman suffered a serious ankle injury while hiking on a rugged trail in the Valencia region.

Firefighters and medical personnel reached the injured hiker on difficult terrain near cliffs and dense vegetation. She was treated at the scene, where responders stabilized her injury and applied a splint while she remained on the ground surrounded by rescue equipment.

The operation involved the GERA mountain rescue unit, along with medical staff, who provided emergency care before evacuation. Additional support came from forest fire services and a forest coordinator assisting with the response.

A rescue helicopter was deployed to the mountainous area and hovered above the site as teams prepared for extraction. Crew members assisted with the evacuation process as conditions required careful coordination.

Once stabilized, the woman was airlifted from the trail and transported by helicopter to hospital in Llíria for further treatment.

The incident took place on a steep hiking route in Chulilla, where narrow paths and rocky surroundings can make rescue operations more complex and time-sensitive.

Authorities highlighted the coordinated effort between ground and air units, combining medical stabilization with rapid aerial evacuation to ensure swift transfer to hospital care.
