Ukrainian Soldiers Push Through Fierce Combat Training In Poland

South eastern Poland – Ukrainian soldiers are training intensively deep in the forests of south eastern Poland at a new camp established by the Norwegian Army and backed by seven other NATO Allies.

Camp Jomsborg was created earlier this year as part of Operation Legio, a programme to train, equip and fund Ukraine’s armed forces. The effort is supported by Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and Poland.

Norway leads Operation Legio, with its trainers working alongside Estonian Army instructors to equip Ukrainian troops with the skills they need to fight and prevail on the battlefield.

Camp Jomsborg, named after a mythical Viking fortress, sits close to the Ukrainian border and offers a secure location for troops to learn new tactics before returning to the front. The facility is undergoing a major expansion that will allow it to significantly increase the number of soldiers who can train there.

Footage from the camp shows Ukrainian troops practising trench-clearing tactics and firing machine guns. Interviews include a Ukrainian Army infantry trainer and a Norwegian Army officer.
