U.S. Forces Seize M/V Bella 1 In North Atlantic After Sanctions Violations

North Atlantic Ocean – The oil tanker Bella 1 was monitored in the North Atlantic Ocean on January 6, 2026, by the Coast Guard Cutter Munro (WMSL 755) as it transited the waters during a major sanctions enforcement operation.

The crew of Munro shadowed the vessel until it was taken over by Coast Guard deployable specialized forces, backed by the Department of War, following confirmed violations of U.S. sanctions.

Bella 1 had previously resisted initial boarding attempts off the coast of Venezuela in late December before making its way into the North Atlantic, where the coordinated operation culminated in its seizure.

The footage shows Munro transiting alongside the oil tanker, documenting the sustained surveillance and eventual intervention.

This action underscores heightened U.S. efforts to enforce international sanctions and respond to vessels that defy boarding attempts and legal orders at sea.
