New York City — The New York Knicks marked their first NBA championship since 1973 with a huge ticker-tape parade through Broadway’s Canyon of Heroes on June 18, 2026. Confetti filled the air above the route, where street signs had been changed to read “Champions Way.”

Mounted police officers moved along the avenue ahead of a marching band, while supervisors used megaphones alongside patrol vehicles. Color guards carried American, Irish, and other flags through the procession.

Large crowds wearing Knicks jerseys stood behind barricades, cheering for the team and reaching toward players as they passed. One player in a blue jersey was seen high-fiving supporters while officers closely monitored the area.

Footage filmed by NYPD NEWS shows the celebration as more than two million people gathered along the parade route.

Thousands of police officers, including mounted units and specialized teams, were deployed to manage the record-sized crowd. Although the atmosphere remained largely celebratory, authorities responded to minor incidents amid the massive turnout in Lower Manhattan.

The parade marked a historic moment for New York sports fans following decades without a championship.
