Crawford County, Kansas – A traffic stop in Crawford County turned dangerous when a driver failed to move over and struck a patrol vehicle, forcing a trooper to quickly get out of the way.

A trooper was conducting a roadside stop when an approaching vehicle did not slow down or shift lanes and hit the patrol unit.

Authorities reported that the trooper had to run out of the way as the vehicle closed in on the scene.

An investigation determined that the driver was impaired and also in possession of drug-related paraphernalia. The driver was removed from the roadway following the incident.

No injuries were reported.

Officials emphasized that drivers must move over or slow down when approaching emergency vehicles with flashing lights, noting that these decisions can protect lives during roadside incidents.
