Oklahoma, USA – Video filmed by X user Sec WX shows a clear distant view of a powerful tornado funnel moving across open farmland south of the city, as described in the caption: “Tornado south of Enid.”
The short, roughly six second shaky handheld clip was recorded from the side of a rural road at 8:26 PM CDT on April 23, 2026. It shows a wide plowed brown field with a strip of green grass and a paved road marked by a yellow center line in the foreground. Overhead power lines stretch across the top of the frame.
In the distance, beneath a massive dark storm cloud, a defined tornado funnel drops from the sky and rotates steadily as it moves across the landscape. The base of the funnel is visible near the horizon, with faint lights from buildings or vehicles appearing in the background.
The camera remains mostly steady with natural handheld movement, keeping the tornado centered as it advances through the rural scene.
The footage documents the same significant tornado that struck during a severe weather outbreak on the evening of April 23 into April 24, 2026. The tornado stayed on the ground for more than 30 minutes.
It caused major damage to homes near Vance Air Force Base and in neighborhoods such as Gray Ridge Estates. Around a dozen minor injuries were reported, with no fatalities.
The event was part of a wider outbreak that led to a rare tornado emergency being issued.
