Boulder, Colorado – Video filmed by the Boulder Police Department shows officers responding to a report of a young child alone on a second-floor balcony wearing only a diaper.
The call came in just after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday about the child standing on the balcony and calling for help. Officers arrived without knowing what they would find and could not get an answer at the locked front door.
Because the child was too young to open the door, officers climbed a fence and used their patrol cars to reach the balcony. They found the child unharmed.
Officers determined the child was too young to be left alone. A large amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was also found within the child’s reach on a coffee table.
Police contacted the child’s father, who said his daughter was asleep when he walked away to get food. He refused to return when speaking with officers.
Officers changed the child’s diaper, helped her get dressed, and cared for her at the police department until they reached her mother. They later drove the child to her mother’s home in Denver.
The following night, officers located the father at a Boulder bar, where he was found with a large amount of cash and nearly 15 grams of cocaine in his pockets.
