Jupiter Island, Florida – Pro golfer Tiger Woods was arrested following a single-vehicle crash on Friday that left his SUV flipped on its side. Body-camera footage of the incident, released by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, shows Woods kneeling beside his vehicle.
“I looked down at my phone, and all of a sudden, boom,” Woods said, describing the moment of the crash.
Officers at the scene observed Woods acting lethargic. He failed a field sobriety test and was found with two prescription hydrocodone pills in his pocket. When asked, “How much have you had to drink today?” Woods provided responses during the arrest process.
The crash occurred when Woods’ vehicle collided with the trailer of a pickup truck along a narrow road. He climbed out of the passenger side after the rollover and was taken into custody, later charged with DUI and failure to submit to a lawful test. Woods has pleaded not guilty to the DUI charge.
Earlier this week, Woods announced he is seeking treatment for personal issues and withdrew from consideration to captain the 2027 Ryder Cup team. His attorney has requested permission for Woods to travel abroad for treatment, citing privacy concerns.
Woods will not attend next week’s Masters and will be away from competitive golf for an undetermined period. This is the fourth traffic-related incident involving Woods, including a 2021 California crash in which he suffered serious injuries requiring reconstructive surgery.
