Porto Sant’Elpidio (FM), Italy – A powerful explosion followed by the partial collapse of a three-storey residential building has left three people dead and two others injured, while emergency teams conducted extensive searches for a missing woman.
Firefighters have been working since early morning after the blast caused the building to collapse partially, triggering a major rescue operation at the scene.
A man was recovered dead from the rubble shortly after the incident. Two injured people were pulled out alive in the initial response. A young man was also rescued alive from the debris during the early stages of the operation.
Search efforts continued for a woman reported missing after the explosion. Specialist USAR teams, along with drones, search dogs, and excavators, were deployed to assist in locating her.
Later updates confirmed that the final missing person was found and recovered. Authorities stated that the total death toll reached three, including one person who later died in hospital, while two others were injured.
Rescue operations were concluded after all victims were accounted for and the site was fully searched.
