Thousands Flood Sardinia’s Capital Waving Palestinian and Cuban Flags as White-Coated Medics Lead Italy Strike March Against Weapons Spending

Cagliari, Italy – Thousands of protesters marched through the Sardinian capital behind health workers in white coats, as Italy’s general strike brought crowds onto the streets.

Footage filmed by PaulLamanski4 on October 30 shows medics carrying a banner reading “Sanitari Sardegna” and “We don’t want an armed country”, comparing billions spent on weapons with funding for health care. Other clips show a huge crowd waving Palestinian flags in a seafront square, and marchers with Cuban, Palestinian and red union flags packing the city’s shopping streets.

The filmer said the march gathered in Piazza Garibaldi at 9:30am and set off at around 10:30am, passing Piazza Costituzione, Via Manno, Piazza Yenne and Largo Carlo Felice before ending in Piazza Matteotti, where speakers addressed the crowd until about 1pm.

“Everything took place peacefully,” the filmer said. The USB union led the march, joined by the Cobas schools union, the Pratobello24 movement and health workers, along with students, pensioners, other workers and people calling for the conversion of the RWM arms factory in Domusnovas.
