Washington DC, United States – Video recorded by X user Rob shows high-angle nighttime footage of a large crowd of teenagers gathering and fighting in a grassy park in the Navy Yard neighborhood.
Groups of teens run across the lawn, scuffle in clusters on the grass and sidewalks, and disperse as police cars with flashing lights patrol the pathways and nearby streets amid illuminated buildings, parked vehicles, and long shadows cast by streetlights.
The footage pans and zooms slightly over the scene, capturing the estimated 200-strong crowd. Some teens are seen moving through the area on bikes or scooters as the unrest continues.
The incident occurred on the evening of March 22, 2026, just 20 minutes before the new 8:00 p.m. juvenile curfew took effect in Navy Yard, one of four expanded zones including Chinatown, U Street corridor, and the Wharf.
This episode is part of recurring teen gatherings that have led D.C. police to enforce earlier restrictions and increase patrols after previous weekends marked by fights, robberies, and gunfire in the upscale waterfront area near the Navy Yard Metro station. No serious injuries were reported in this incident.
The post describing the event stated: “Happening tonight in Navy Yard just 20 minutes before the new 8:00 pm curfew.”
