Terrassa, Spain – X user CGT TERRASSA Activitats Diverses captured a dense crowd of striking teachers and union supporters filling a city street in Terrassa, many wearing yellow shirts and jackets and holding handmade cardboard protest signs.
The signs carried messages translated into English such as “The 0-3 Does Not Exist,” “No Excuses, Three Reasons: Rights, Equity, Future,” “Without Residency There Is No Education,” and “Decree 152/2006 For 0-3 Is Below Minimum Standards.” Participants raised fists, clapped enthusiastically, and chanted as a bright red fire truck marked “bombers,” with emergency lights flashing, moved slowly through or alongside the group.
Red and purple flags waved in the background amid urban buildings, trees, and passing vehicles under overcast skies, highlighting the energy and solidarity of the march.
The protest occurred on March 19, 2026, during the fourth day of a week-long territorial teachers’ strike across Catalonia (March 16–20). Firefighter unions, including CGT Bomberxs, publicly joined the demonstrations in support of educators demanding higher salaries, smaller class sizes, reduced bureaucracy, and greater investment in public education after rejecting what they called an “insufficient” government deal.
The moment was described as “Firefighters will always be ours!”
