Tampa, United States – On March 22, 2026, three Tampa officers raced to a blue sedan that had crashed under a building overhang on West Gandy Boulevard after the driver suffered a medical emergency.
Thick smoke poured from the engine compartment, and flames were visible beneath the car. The officers smashed the driver’s window with a tool, urgently pulled the unconscious man out, and dragged him across the pavement to the nearby grass, repeatedly shouting, “Come on, get out!” and “You alright bud?”
Tampa Fire Rescue arrived shortly after to extinguish the growing blaze. The officers continued to check on the rescued man as the fire was brought under control.
