Turin, Italy – Video filmed by X user Vigili del Fuoco shows firefighters in Turin carrying out a rescue operation on the dome of the Mole Antonelliana, one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks.
The footage captures a protected swift, known as a rondone, that had become entangled in safety netting at the top of the structure.
Firefighters are seen working carefully at height, removing the small bird from the netting with a delicate operation carried out on the dome.
Once freed, the bird is safely released back into the sky.
The rescue was shared with the caption: “A swift, a protected species symbol of freedom, caught in the net on the dome of the Mole Antonelliana? The firefighters take care of saving it!”
The swift is a migratory bird and protected species. It was spotted by passers-by before firefighters intervened to free it without injury.
The operation highlights another successful animal rescue carried out at the historic site in Turin.
