Volusia County, Florida – A close call unfolded overnight on I-95 when an SUV ran off the highway at the scene of a car versus deer crash.
A Volusia County sergeant and a Florida Highway Patrol trooper were already on-site investigating the earlier crash when the SUV suddenly veered off the road.
According to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, the SUV struck a VSO patrol vehicle and then crashed into the back of the car involved in the deer collision.
The impact caused the SUV to spin back onto the interstate, narrowly avoiding a tragedy.
The sheriff’s office shared video of the incident and issued a public reminder.
They urged drivers to remain alert for emergency lights and to move over for first responders, service vehicles, and disabled vehicles on the roadside.
“This was a split second away from tragedy,” the agency posted.
