San Francisco, California – The San Francisco Fire Department responded to an emergency at 1351 California Street between Leavenworth and Hyde after a cable car came to an abrupt stop.
Officials said 14 people were injured in the incident. Firefighters and medical teams treated the injured at the scene while numerous ambulances were brought into the area to assist.
Authorities reported that the injuries range from minor to moderate. Emergency crews remain on site as patient care continues.
The fire department urged the public to avoid California Street between Hyde and Leavenworth. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
