Stunning Auroras Blaze Over Earth As Space Station Captures Orbital Sunrise In Dramatic View

Low Earth Orbit – A vivid display of glowing green auroras was captured from the International Space Station as it moved into orbital dawn on May 23, 2026.

Video filmed by X user Don Pettit shows bright auroral curtains sweeping and shimmering across Earth’s atmosphere as the station passes above the planet’s darkened curve.

The light forms flowing patterns of green that ripple across the sky while the first sunlight begins to emerge along the horizon, slowly brightening the scene below.

The camera pans gradually, shifting from the intense aurora activity to the growing glow of sunrise breaking over the edge of Earth.

The clip was posted with the caption: “Aurora watching into an orbital dawn. This never gets old!”

It quickly spread widely online and was shared as one of the most striking orbital views in recent weeks.
