Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, Spain – On 21 March 2026 at 01:56 TUC, a bright fireball meteor from the Gamma Virginids swarm raced across the dark night sky over the Atlantic Ocean.
Captured from the beach in the north of Lanzarote, the bolide appeared as a vivid white-green streak with a glowing trail, illuminating the horizon and sea surface before fading out.
The meteor, catalogued as SPMN210326F with an absolute magnitude of -11±2, was visible from the Canary Islands, the Azores, and parts of Morocco.
The footage recorded the full luminous phase in clear detail against a starry backdrop. No fragments reached the ground, and no damage was reported.
Observers described the event as a spectacular display, noting the continued activity of the Virginid meteor swarm.
