Madrid, Spain – Spain’s national football team, known as La Roja, returned home as 2026 World Cup champions, sparking major celebrations across the capital.
The team arrived at Madrid-Barajas Airport, where Guardia Civil officers provided security as players wearing red national gear disembarked and boarded buses.
The celebration continued as the team bus arrived at Plaza de España, with crowds of fans cheering and waving while the players and staff joined the festivities. One player lifted the golden World Cup trophy overhead during the celebration.
A blue double-decker bus later carried the team toward Cibeles in Madrid, with players on the open top waving to supporters and holding the trophy.
Police provided escorts and crowd control throughout the celebrations, with officers on foot, motorcycles, horses, and vehicles supporting the procession.
