Skiers Trigger Avalanche On Braddock Peak

Lake Agnes, USA – Skiers on Braddock Peak encountered unstable snow conditions while ascending toward Z Couloir on May 25, 2026, leading to a change in their planned descent route.

The group traveled from the winter parking lot of Lake Agnes and skinned up the north-facing slope beside Z Couloir. During the activity, they triggered a size 1 wind slab, which then set off a natural wet loose slide reaching the bottom of Z Couloir.

After observing the wind slab and wet loose avalanche activity, the skiers reassessed their descent and chose not to enter the couloir.

Instead, they descended using the same route they had used for the ascent in order to avoid further risk.

The group noted that the video footage was recorded after reaching a safe zone, showing the unstable snow conditions on the mountain.
