La Guaira, Venezuela – Rescue teams have detected signs of life beneath the rubble of a collapsed building in the Macuto area of La Guaira, where a mother and two of her three children are believed to be trapped.
The discovery followed a message reportedly sent via WhatsApp by the woman’s brother, which helped guide emergency crews to the location.
USAR firefighters from ITA02, working together with firefighters from Ecuador, entered the debris field and were able to make initial contact with the trapped woman.
Rescuers reported that the woman responded by tapping on a metal pipe after they called out to her from within the rubble.
The rescue operation remains highly complex due to the unstable and critical condition of the collapsed structure.
Emergency teams continue working carefully through the debris in an effort to reach those still trapped inside.
