Boston, Massachusetts – Scottish football supporters celebrated the 2026 World Cup in high spirits across Boston in a video filmed by X user Iain McCulloch, showing the Tartan Army singing, marching, and taking part in traditional celebrations throughout the city.

The video shows supporters climbing onto the equestrian statue of George Washington in the Public Garden and carefully placing a bright orange traffic cone on the rider’s head while fans below cheer.

The famous bronze statue, sculpted by Thomas Ball and dedicated in 1869, depicts Washington on horseback. Scottish supporters gave the monument the traditional “traffic cone on the head” treatment that is closely associated with statues in Scotland.

As the celebrations continue, fans gather around a historic fountain, waving large Saltire flags, dancing, clapping, and playing bagpipes while crowds watch and join the festivities.

The footage also captures a massive group of supporters marching through tree-lined streets, singing and waving flags as they create a festive and good-natured atmosphere across the city.

Following Scotland at the World Cup was described as an occasion to celebrate regardless of results or performances. Boston was described as the most hospitable and friendly city.
