San Bernardino County Battles Widespread Flooding And Mudflows Amid December Storms

Wrightwood, California – On December 24, 2025, San Bernardino County Fire crews continue to respond to the “December Storms” incident, which has forced many families to evacuate their homes across Wrightwood, Piñon Hills, Phelan, and Lytle Creek.

Over 120 personnel remain active throughout the night, assisting residents with evacuations and addressing life safety concerns. Officials report one minor injury involving a pediatric patient, who was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.

The incident, now expanded beyond Wrightwood, is under unified command with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Crews are coordinating rescue, evacuation, and ongoing monitoring operations to protect residents and property.

The Care and Reception Center at Silverado High School closed at 7:30 p.m., with a new shelter established at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds in Victorville. This facility accommodates evacuees and pets of all sizes.

Once immediate safety threats are mitigated, fire crews will focus on property preservation, including damming, diverting water, and salvaging affected structures. Patrols will continue to monitor conditions and report updates to the Incident Commander.
