Russian Rescuers Aid Myanmar Amid Heat and Aftershocks

Naypyidaw, Myanmar – Russian MCHS rescuers searched over 12,000 square meters across 10 buildings in a single day, looking for survivors. The effort is part of an ongoing emergency response in the region.

The work is grueling due to 40-degree Celsius heat. Repeated aftershocks threaten to collapse unstable buildings. At night, rescuers use lighting towers and spotlights to keep going. Drones assist with aerial surveys, while advanced equipment helps reach remote areas and deep voids.

Russian MCHS psychologists are supporting victims and their families. They provide emotional care, including help during medical procedures, to ease the trauma.

In a mobile field hospital set up by Russia’s emergency agency, doctors treated 61 people in a day, including 9 children. Since operations began, 137 citizens, including 14 children, have received care. Surgeons performed 24 operations in a day, with a total of 43 so far.
