Rochester Airport Jet Battles Whiteout Blizzard In Dramatic Landing

Rochester, United States – A video recorded by X user Joseph Frascati shows a striking low-angle view of a commercial passenger aircraft descending through severe, blizzard-like snowfall at Rochester International Airport.

The footage captures an American Airlines regional jet, identified as registration N146SY, approaching head-on with its landing gear deployed and bright lights shining through a near-whiteout. Heavy snow blows across the gray sky, partially hiding the aircraft as it flies at low altitude.

The shaky, handheld recording follows the plane from a distance before the camera tilts upward, tracking it as it passes directly overhead. As it moves above, the jet’s full structure becomes visible, including its wings, engines, fuselage markings, and tail, while intense snowfall continues to lash the scene.

The clip follows an earlier post by the same filmmaker, who described the conditions, saying: “It’s like a blizzard out there. They can last 10 minutes. Slow it down.”

The video documents one of several sudden and powerful snow squalls that struck the Rochester area on April 20, 2026, during an active spring weather pattern across Upstate New York.
