San Martín, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina – A video filmed on December 23, 2025, shows a residential street completely overtaken by murky brown floodwater after a sudden and intense storm swept through the area.
The footage reveals water flowing across the paved road at knee-to-thigh depth, turning the street into what appears to be a river. Floating debris, leaves, and trash drift past submerged curbs, while grassy verges, trees, power lines, and houses are visible beneath overcast skies.
A white compact car, similar to a small hatchback, is seen in the foreground partially submerged and slightly floating, tilted nose-down with floodwater reaching its windows. The scene underscores how quickly the downpour overwhelmed the neighborhood.
The flooding followed a highly localized storm that dropped between 80 and 90 millimeters of rain in less than an hour. Northern Greater Buenos Aires was hit hardest, with San Martín experiencing widespread street flooding, fallen trees, power outages, and significant disruption, including severe problems on the Panamericana highway and at Unicenter mall.
The video was posted by X user Circo y Pan and included the caption: “San Martín all flooded, where is Mayor Moreira and the inept Katopodis.” The message criticizes local authorities, naming Mayor Fernando Moreira and provincial minister Gabriel Katopodis.
