Northwest Trek Wildlife Park, Washington, USA – A litter of nine American Red Wolf pups has been born at a shared off-site facility operated by Northwest Trek Wildlife Park and Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium.
The pups arrived on April 18 and were born to Violet, a first-time mother. The litter consists of six males and three females.
The birth is being highlighted as a significant moment in efforts to help recover the critically endangered species.
Keeper Emily carried out a visual examination of the pups, confirming they are healthy and developing normally.
The young wolves are staying in a secure den with both parents at the off-site Red Wolf facility.
They will remain behind the scenes as they continue to grow under protected care.
Staff report that the pups are active and progressing well in their early development.
