Lahore, Pakistan – On February 8, 2026, the skies over Lahore came alive as the Basant festival marked the arrival of spring.

Video filmed by digital journalist Laiba Zainab shows dozens of brightly colored kites soaring against a clear blue sky. Reds, yellows, greens, blues, and multicolored patterns filled the air as participants ran to launch and control their kites.

Some kites engaged in traditional “kite fights,” with strings coated in manja cutting rival lines, creating a lively and dynamic display. Strings led down to rooftops and open grounds where families, youth, and friends cheered and skillfully maneuvered their reels.

The festival’s sunny, festive atmosphere reflected the cultural heritage of Basant and the Basant Panchami traditions of the region, celebrating spring and community spirit. No accidents or restrictions were seen in the video.
