Pyroclastic Flow Surges Down Mayon Volcano After Lava Collapse

Mayon Volcano, Philippines – Sped-up camera footage shows a lava flow collapse that triggered a pyroclastic density current on the southwestern slopes of Mayon Volcano at Mi-isi Gully.

The event was captured at 11:22 AM on May 13, 2026, by the Mayon Volcano Observatory and the PHIVOLCS Quick Response Team.

The recording shows fast-moving volcanic material surging down the slope following the collapse-fed flow on the volcano’s southwestern flank.

Alert Level 3 remains in effect over Mayon Volcano.

Authorities state that entry into the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone should be prohibited.
