Protesters Block O’Connell Bridge In Dublin Over Rising Fuel Prices

Dublin, Ireland – On the evening of April 8, 2026, protesters brought both directions of O’Connell Bridge in Dublin to a complete standstill.

Video filmed by X user Paul Nolan shows a large group of demonstrators, many with tractors and large vehicles, occupying the entire bridge. Cars and buses were trapped on both sides of the River Liffey.

This marked the second day of national fuel price protests across Ireland. Farmers and transport workers rallied against steep increases in diesel, petrol, and home heating oil prices. O’Connell Bridge became a major protest point, causing significant disruption in the city centre.
