Madrid, Spain – Video footage released by the Policía Nacional shows officers from the Brigada de Patrimonio Histórico carefully handling and displaying two recovered artworks in a secure room.
The footage captures a uniformed officer holding a large framed piece by Pablo Picasso titled Naturaleza muerta con Calavera (Still Life with Skull). The officer gently turns the artwork to inspect it before placing it on the floor next to another recovered piece by Antoni Tàpies, Sant Titre. The camera pans between the two as they are examined and documented.
Both artworks had been stolen during a burglary in a private home in Madrid. Authorities recovered them through an ongoing investigation, highlighting the work of the historical heritage division.
The official post stated: “An investigation by the Brigada de Patrimonio Histórico has recovered two artworks stolen during a robbery in a Madrid home. Picasso ‘Naturaleza muerta con Calavera’ and Tàpies ‘Sant Titre.’ The investigation remains open.”
