Kirkland, Washington – Police responding to a 911 call about a possible burglary discovered an unexpected intruder inside a home in the Moss Bay neighborhood.

A resident had reported loud banging and feared a burglar was inside. When officers arrived, they found a bobcat perched at the top of the stairs.

Police used a drone to monitor the animal from a safe distance, then guided the bobcat into an unoccupied room while waiting for personnel from Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Wildlife officials sedated the animal and transported it to a wilderness area near Forbes Creek.

Police determined the bobcat most likely climbed a tree and jumped into the house through an open window.

They suspect it may have been pursuing the resident’s cat, which was later found unharmed inside the home.
