Simi Valley, California – A small single-engine fixed-wing aircraft crashed into two homes in the 200 block of High Meadow Street in the Wood Ranch area.
Both structures, two-story single-family residences, caught fire and sustained structural damage from the crash.
The fire was quickly knocked down by Ventura County Fire Department (VCFD) crews, who then began overhaul and salvage operations.
Residents were inside both homes at the time of the crash but were safely evacuated with no reported injuries.
Initial reports confirmed one fatality in the aircraft, but Simi Valley Police later verified that two people aboard the plane were killed.
Approximately 40 firefighters responded to the scene. The operation was handled under a unified command with Simi Valley Police Department.
Firefighters have since been released from the site, and command has shifted to Simi Valley PD, working alongside the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office.
VCFD was first dispatched at 1:51 p.m. after reports of a crash and active fire. Responding crews launched an aggressive fire attack and quickly contained the blaze.
There were no injuries to residents or firefighters during the incident.
