Perth, Australia – A video from Perth Zoo shows an Asian Small-clawed Otter named Saati celebrating his 8th birthday with a fresh seafood meal and playful activity in his enclosure.

The close-up handheld footage shows Saati sitting on a wet rocky ledge next to the water. He is seen holding a large crustacean in his paws while eating it with clear enthusiasm.

As he eats, the otter opens his mouth wide, revealing his teeth and pink tongue. Bits of shell and food can be seen on his whiskers as he chews.

Saati turns his head toward the camera, blinks calmly, and continues eating with visible enjoyment. Afterward, he moves into a shallow pool, splashing and swimming while still holding part of his food.

The enclosure includes rocks, greenery, and water under natural daylight, forming a natural-style habitat for the animal.

The 13-second clip was posted on April 21, 2026, marking Saati’s 8th birthday and highlighting the care and enrichment provided for the zoo’s Asian Small-clawed Otters.
