Orlando, Florida – MyFWC Florida Fish and Wildlife announced the rescue of an orphaned baby manatee.

The manatee rescue and research team responded after a citizen report to the Wildlife Alert Hotline. Staff assessed the situation and decided intervention was necessary.

The orphaned calf was rescued with the help of FWC Law Enforcement and the Dolphin Research Center.

The baby manatee is now at SeaWorld Orlando receiving the care it needs.

Officials hope the calf will eventually make a safe return to its natural environment.
