New York City, New York – NYPD Emergency Service Unit officers responded to a crisis situation on the Brooklyn Bridge on July 8, 2026, after a woman was found in distress high above the East River.

Officers climbed onto the bridge structure and spent nearly an hour speaking with the woman before safely bringing her away from the dangerous situation.

Body-worn and helicopter footage shows the NYPD ESU response, with officers carefully approaching the area and working together during the rescue operation.

The department said the officers showed care, courage, and compassion throughout the incident.

The woman was safely brought to safety following the coordinated response.
