Queens, New York – NYPD Harbor Unit officers responded to a 911 call on Friday night regarding a woman clinging to a wooden piling in Newtown Creek.

Bodycam footage shows officers approaching the scene by patrol boat beneath a bridge after receiving reports that the woman had fallen into the water.

When the patrol boat could not get close enough because of underwater obstacles, one officer jumped into the murky creek and swam to the woman.

The officer reached the woman, who was holding onto the piling, and pulled her to safety.

Both were then assisted onto the patrol boat and later onto a dock, where the woman was checked by responders near an ambulance.

The rescue took place on July 10, 2026, in Newtown Creek between Brooklyn and Queens.
