Charlotte, North Carolina – NBA All-Star LaMelo Ball made a lasting impact off the court during the 2024-2025 NBA season through the Points for Pets initiative.
As an ambassador for Humane World for Animals’ More Than a Pet campaign, Ball helped provide 296,000 meals to pets in underserved communities.
Points for Pets launched at the beginning of the season. Humane World for Animals committed to donating 250 meals for every point Ball scored during the regular season.
Ball scored 1,184 points, leading to meals being distributed across the country, including North Carolina communities impacted by Hurricane Helene such as Asheville, Canton, and Statesville.
Ball expressed pride in the project, sharing that his dogs mean everything to him and that every pet deserves care and love.
He said being part of More Than a Pet was an amazing experience and thanked everyone who helped make it possible.
An estimated 20 million pets in the United States live in poverty, and 70% have never seen a veterinarian.
The More Than a Pet campaign works to close the gap in access to pet care, supplies, and veterinary services through Pets for Life and Rural Area Veterinary Services.
Amanda Arrington, vice president at Humane World for Animals, praised Ball for his leadership and compassion.
She said his support expanded the outreach and distribution of much-needed pet food to underserved areas.
Together with corporate partners, the More Than a Pet campaign continues to raise awareness and funds for critical programs supporting animals and their families.
