Monsoon Downpour Turns Wimco Nagar Industrial Street Into Raging Flood

Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India – A brutal flash flood swept through a narrow industrial street near Wimco Nagar around 6:00 AM on December 3, 2025, after more than an hour of nonstop monsoon rain from a tail-end depression.

Murky brown water surged ankle to calf deep, carrying leaves, plastic waste, and oily runoff from clogged drains. Yellow auto-rickshaws stood partly submerged against a graffiti-marked concrete wall, while a distant scooter’s red taillight flickered through the haze.

Large gray factory buildings vanished into the rising flood as their loading bays and fences went underwater. A neem tree thrashed overhead as heavy rain blurred visibility to barely 20 feet, leaving the street deserted except for the roar of fast-moving water.

With 50–75 mm of rain falling in 90 minutes, drainage failures stranded workers and crippled early commutes in this low-lying industrial zone. The original X post, captioned “Situation Near Wimconagar,” drew replies such as “Thrashed for 75 minutes non-stop” as the IMD red alert warned of isolated 100+ mm bursts across the region.
