Mexico City, Mexico – Severe street flooding was recorded in Cuajimalpa, in western Mexico City, during an intense storm on the night of June 1, 2026.
Heavy rainfall turned roads into fast-moving rivers, with water spreading across the street surface and flowing strongly between buildings. The conditions shown in the footage make driving difficult due to the high water levels.
The video captures rapid water accumulation across the area as the storm intensifies.
The extreme weather developed during a severe thunderstorm that affected western Mexico City on June 1.
The Secretaría de Gestión Integral de Riesgos y Protección Civil issued a Purple Alert for Cuajimalpa, the highest warning level, due to the risk of torrential rainfall exceeding 70 millimeters in a short time, along with possible hail.
The storm caused widespread urban flooding across Cuajimalpa and nearby areas, including Interlomas and Jesús del Monte.
Several streets were temporarily transformed into flowing channels as heavy rain led to fast water buildup. Some vehicles became stranded, and authorities warned residents to avoid driving through flooded areas.
The video is another clear example of dangerous urban flooding affecting western Mexico City during the storm.
