Mayon Volcano Spews Lava Fountains And Deadly Pyroclastic Flows

Philippines – Time-lapse footage captured from 03:32 AM to 07:57 AM on March 16, 2026, shows Mayon Volcano producing short-lived lava fountains amid its ongoing effusive eruption, now entering its 70th consecutive day.

The volcano continues to generate incandescent lava flows, pyroclastic density currents, locally known as “uson,” and frequent rockfalls. The activity has maintained Alert Level 3, signaling hazardous conditions.

Authorities have emphasized that entry into the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone remains strictly prohibited due to the persistent eruption and the risks posed by lava, hot gas flows, and falling debris.

Residents and visitors are urged to stay clear of the restricted area and monitor official updates for safety guidance.
