Legazpi, Philippines – Mayon Volcano continues its effusive eruption, now in its 82nd consecutive day, producing spectacular lava fountaining and ash emissions.
Time-lapse video from the Mayon Volcano Observatory, along with photos from the DOST-PHIVOLCS Quick Response Team, captured short-lived lava fountains on March 27, 2026. These events sent ash clouds rising 400 meters into the air before drifting west-southwest.
The eruption has generated incandescent lava flows, pyroclastic density currents known locally as “uson,” and frequent rockfalls along the slopes. Authorities emphasize that Alert Level 3 remains in effect. Entry into the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone is strictly prohibited to ensure public safety.
Residents and visitors are urged to stay away from the danger zone and monitor official updates as the volcano continues its active activity.
